NorthEast United Fc v/s Fc Pune City (1 - 0)

To me, the match was pretty boring even though both teams wanted a victory so badly. But the goal from the freekick was pretty good....... Watch the highlights below...

Well here's a summary which if i were u wouldn't read aftr watching the above highlights....

Summary of the Match

The hosts began the game strongly but it was Pune who looked more likely to score. Momar Ndoye caused a lot of flutters in the NorthEast backline with his runs down the left flank, while Emiliano Alfaro brushed the side-netting with his free kick at the other end as both teams tried to find their feet in the opening few minutes.
Pune were clearly the better team as they dominated the proceedings. Jonatan Lucca found himself in acres of space just outside the box but he wasted the golden opportunity by putting it over the bar. The Stallions continued to pile on the pressure but failed to find the back of the net as another opportunity went begging after an unmarked Eduardo Ferreira failed to connect with the ball.
NorthEast earned back-to-back corners but they weren’t able to do much with them as Pune continued attacking with great alacrity. Anibal Rodriguez cut past two men before seeing his shot deflected away, while Gustavo Oberman hit his attempt straight towards Subrata Paul at the other end. A few yellow cards were flashed as the Highlanders were able to keep a leash on the Stallions with the score standing 0-0 at halftime.

Nicolas Velez ran through the Pune defence to earn a corner as NorthEast began the second half on a positive note. But it was only a flash in the pan as a dull passage of play ensued with both teams being guilty of making scruffy passes. The game sprung back to life past the hour mark when Katsumi Yusa’s shot was kept away from danger and the ensuing rebound by Romaric was blocked.
Pune too were not to be left behind as Lenny Rodrigues unleashed a thunderbolt from distance but unluckily for his side it only rattled the post. Velez could have claimed the winner soon for NorthEast but missed a great opportunity with only a man to beat. Pitu then volleyed in a shot from point-blank range but it was expertly dealt with by Paul in goal for the Highlanders.
The deadlock was finally broken late into the game when Ferreira handled the ball outside the box. Romaric did the rest as he fired it past Edel Bete to make it 1-0 for the Highlanders nine minutes from time. Pune immediately went in search for the equaliser. Pitu fired it straight towards the keeper as the hosts held on to their advantage, ensuring a victory and valuable three points in the process.
